The Complexity Of Roads

in #funny6 years ago

The government today holds a number of responsibilities, from looking after water ways and police services, to taking care of parks, roadways, and more. They charge the people up-front for these services and the customer can never be sure of the quality of service that they're going to get, and even if they're unhappy about it there isn't going to be much that can be done to change it.

If the government wants to take up the initiative to take on so many responsibilities, then you might hope that at the very least they'd do an adequate job of it. Most often though, you'll find that their influence has been less than satisfactory, often nonsensical, or even outright harmful.

And you might find yourself asking where all the money is going at some point, when you pause to reflect on the quality of service and goods that you're seeing in-exchange for that considerable contribution that's being made by so many.

If they are not going to meet their responsibilities in an acceptable manner, then why not give people the chance to opt-out and go elsewhere. Alas, we carry on marching forward, hoping that maybe next time around we'll get it right, we'll get that magic fix. But it never comes and the current state of things continually erodes.

The most basic of those responsibilities is taking care of roads. A feat which surely is too complex to be organized via voluntary exchanges, we're told, and it's an endeavor which can only be accomplished by using just the right amount of acceptable coercion.

If a property is owned by everyone, and no one at the same time, then we cannot be surprised when we see repeated instances of neglect and when that property falls into disarray. There's the slightest chance that the organization and ownership surrounding the responsibility, just might have been a contributing factor to the failure. It just might.

If you pay for a certain good or service, and you aren't happy with that good or service, or you don't receive the good or service that you were told you'd' be getting, then shouldn't you get your money back?

We are pressured into believing that this is the only way, that there's only one option for human organization available to us, that forceful organization is the only and best idea that our minds can conjure up at this time. Anything else would be chaos they fear.

But are we truly content in saying that this is the best we can do? That this is the most that can be achieved? Why have we set the bar so low for ourselves.

If slavery is the only way we can have roads, I'm definitively anti-road.

Speaking from experience, the public sector is always going to be inefficient compared to the private sector. Because they have a monopoly on certain jobs, they have no incentive to be innovative, time efficient, and reduce costs. In fact, engaging in these tactics will only fill their pockets with our hard earned money.

Nothing we can do about it. Can't even vote with our wallets. What they can't steal with taxation, they will steal with inflation.

@doitvoluntarily It is incredible that these things are repeated from always and the worst thing is that it is a problem worldwide, no matter the country where you live, talking about public works is talking about corruption, theft of money, and some people enriched by the situation
Thank you very much for sharing this news
I wish you an excellent day

But Obama said that the government is responsible for everything. We should fall on our knees and worship our master hahaha 😂 I couldn't finish.

Has anyone noticed a huge increase in traffic lights in incomprehensible places? That is government trying to spend all the money so they get funded more next year. It has nothing to do with your safety. It causes more accidents so they can get a raise. We cannot trust our roads or anything else to these demons. Government is dangerous to humanity and should be prohibited.

Awesome post as always @doitvoluntarily ! As A Tax Payer, Im always asking myself : "Where did all that money go!?!?" 😎😳😕😱
Upped earlier, now resteemed!

I dont know if you ever drive on tool roads where you are, but we have them here in the States but thankfully not in Michigan. I could not believe going through Illinois and having a toll stop literally every few minutes for 2 bucks! Plus if you pull off for food the choices are very limited and very expensive!

Ive had plenty of experience with the crony toll roads.. and can remember a few times when I appreciated having the option because the "free" road was often backed up bumper to bumper! 😄👍 can't say i've had difficulty finding any cheap food items on road trips? there's been lots of garbage to choose from lol

I am convinced that open source and blockchain are the tools we need to make it happen. I can't explain how those tools could be used on a technical level, but its just a matter of transparency and accounting. Even attaining land can be done by auction on the blockchain.

If we aren't being careful about this we're gonna end in a world that is reigned by megacorporations taking up the tasks of governments

That's why it's not enough to know that government is corrupt, or even that authority is invalid. We must understand slavery and false religion on the principle level, and this takes us far deeper, into a critical investigation of human nature, and the natural cause-and-effect processes of this universe. Nearly all generally-accepted concepts are rooted in a misunderstanding of who we are on the most fundamental level.
