Your landlord is going to hate me for this.

Excuse 39:

“We spent too much on vacation.”

Doesn't everyone? Even your landlord probably spends too much on vacation. Certainly anyone should understand this. Unfortunately for you, your landlord probably still pays his/her mortgage on time when on vacation, so you won't get too much sympathy with this one unless you happened to take your landlord along on your vacation, using your speedboat, houseboat, or mountain condominium. Of course, if you had all that, you probably wouldn't be renting a run down mobile home or apartment from him in the first place.

If you have to use this excuse, you'd better have a good plan for when you'll have the rent, and it had better be there when the time comes.
