Let's get started with the first vitamin I want to share with you, VITAMIN A of course!
Vitamine A or 'Retinol' is a very important vitamin of course. There are many people that are a victim of a lack of Vitamin A. It is necessary for the conservation of a healthy skin, teeth, sight and even your hair. Besides that it is also crucial for the growth of cells and for maintaining of a properly working immune system.
Fun fact: Your mother did not lie when she told you that your sight would be better if you ate a lot of carrots. Carrots contain a lot of Vitamin A which helps you to preserve the health of your retina and your cornea!
There are many foods that contain Vitamin A or ‘Retinol’. Think of the most usual fruits as:
- Bananas
- Oranges
- Mandarins
- Dried Apricots
- And most tropical fruits such as mangos and papayas
- And finally tomatoes. However, the question is if tomatoes are fruits or vegetables. Many people in the kitchen or the horticulture say that tomatoes are vegetables. But the botanical view is that tomatoes are fruits.
If you are eating a dinner than you can maybe take a look at:
fish as:
- Tuna
- Mackerel
- Salamon
And of course, vegetables:
- Carrots
- Paksoy
- Paprika
- Most kinds of Melons
- Sweet red peppers
- Most kinds of dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach and kale.
And last but not least, the symptoms of a lack of Vitamin A. There are many people that are suffering of a lack of Vitamin A. It can cause a lot of daily problems. Your immune system constantly needs a refill of Vitamin A to keep working properly.
So if you have a lack of Vitamin A it wouldn’t be that weird if you have complaints of infections, or a cold now and then. It also can cause fatigue, a dry skin or dull hair. Do you have a complaint of night-blindness? Than a lot of Vitamin A will solve your problem, because a lack of it can cause a decrease of your sight and therefore also night-blindness.
What is your view on tomatoes, is it a fruit or a vegetable? and how do you use them in the kitchen? Leave your comment with maybe a nice and healthy recipe we all will profit of in our own kitchen.
Tip: buy frozen foods for in your freezer at home, frozen foods are being packed directly from the harvest and so they have the most of the vitamins and minerals left.
