Duku is mainly grown for the fruit, which is usually eaten fresh. There are also preserves in syrup and bottled. The wood is hard, solid, heavy and durable, so it is often used as tooling and home construction in the village, especially the wood of pisitan.

Some parts of the plant are used as traditional medicine ingredients. Duku seeds are bitter taste, pounded and mixed with water for worm medicine and fever medicine. The bark is used as a medicine for dysentery and malaria; while the bark flour is used as a poultice to treat scorpion bites. The skin of the fruit is also used as a medicine for diarrhea; and dried fruit peel, in the Philippines commonly burned as a mosquito repellent.Flowers mainly, dried and processed to be mixed in sesanggi or incense.
