a friend of mine is sad
and I don't know how to help, tried to cheer her up by saying the future will be better and is something to look forward to but I don't know if this worked or not. I'm not a therapist or doctor and often don't know the right thing to say. and sometimes I let other people I am close to dictate my mood, for example if my family member is sad or has an issue this becomes by issue and I know this is not a healthy way to live my life.
