My Dream aaaahhh to own a freezedrier :)

YOU'RE GONNA EAT IT AND YOU'RE GONNA LIKE IT!
This became my favorite saying upon purchasing my home freezedrier. Something I wanted for years, however, the technology was only available in commercial model size, and price wise, far beyond my income(still wanted one). Luckily, home models are now available, I am so happy :), as you can tell I purchased one.
Let me just say I had mixed reactions from my family and friends. The majority not understanding why I would buy such a thing(first question was how much was it lol), but I have swayed each and every one of them. They thought the food would not taste the same and I kept repeating what my mountain Grandmother said to me when I wasn't quite accepting of some of the food she proudly served me over the years, and that is "YOU'RE GONNA EAT IT AND YOU'RE GONNA LIKE IT". I will go into detail in future posts of the infinite other reasons why I have and you should consider a freezedrier for your own... the health benefits, long term and short term food storage, back packing/camping/survival food use...I could go on :) but later :)
First I had to learn how to use the machine. Thinking you just have to plug it in, put some food on trays, and be in the freezedry business, wasn't how it went. But it took no time, reading of the manual, and I was up and running(knew I would be :). Finding the right spot in the house is a must as the machine is a bit noisey. Not that it bothered me, but it was offensive to others. And the freezedrying began. I am only in the process about 5 months, and I want the bigger model that just came out. Being obsessed with the machine, process, and product after, I will be purchasing the larger model and run both machines. The one I have now is for my own. However, I need the bigger size for all the orders from people who want me to freezedry their own products. Time to add to my Goldmoney account (let the savings begin) :)Did I say I am happy? Everybody around me I know is happy that I have bought this piece of equipment and life is good. To say I didn't have a learning curve to go through would be dishonest. But I was/am determined to learn all I can and have fun while doing so. I don't want to be any other way!!!
Reguarding the final price of the freezedrier, had it been available 3 years ago when I turned 50 years old, I would have asked my husband for one of those instead of asking for my first gun (which I got:)). Instead I likened the price to all of the tools that fill the garage wall to wall that are my husbands happiness, all it took. My husband told me I am the Lucille Ball meets Suzy Freezedrying Homemaker new cooking channel. I am apparently entertaining him with my new obsession quite nicely. He recently said it may be the Lucille Ball Freezedries With Her Best Friend Phyliss Diller Afternoon Show :) I love dearly both Lucille and Phyllis so I take it with a smile on my face. Suzy however, struggles to fit in the group from time to time. But they do let her in and it always comes together.
