He rolled up the plans placing them in a tube. The prototype he placed in a large sack to make it easier to carry. He worked on the invention for years and now he might find an investor. Only, who would invest in a machine that sends objects into a parallel universe never to see them again?

Ethically, he never considered where the objects went. For all he knew they piled up somewhere in a fifth-dimension universe. And he never thought about how to get them back. He only knew his machine made things disappear and where they went he didn't care.

The military might like his machine: invade a country and make a tank disappear. Or a soldier. What if they all found a way back? It might happen if they could reorient themselves and reverse-engineer the process. Then again, it might never happen. In the end, who cared? He still got paid.

He could prove it worked; he had the videos and the objects for the demonstration.

He placed the prototype in the trunk of his car and swung the plans over his shoulder. In a flash, rocks, metal, and small appliances began to pour out of a slit in the universe. They landed with a clunk near him spreading out over the pavement. Then his assistant materialized. She looked pissed and she was pointing a copy of his invention at him. He tossed the plans into the car and before he could shout her name, he vanished.

She pushed the plans off the driver's seat and slid into the car. She punched up his GPS and sent the car to its destination and the waiting investors.
