Wallflower - Day 244: 5 Minute Freewrite: Wednesday - Prompt: wood
As these waves have come and gone and I rise
I'm relieved in the crests that are smooth and buttery
The fluffy happy place of many before me
Crashes into the sands of time where the lonely reside
Carrying with it the dreams and wishes of the past
Washing away any traces along its path
The people smile to hide their pain
The tears hidden by the waters
Upon which they cast their wishes
The pieces of trees passed along as remnants
These bones adrift along for the ride
And with it the wooden carcasses representing us
This drift wood eventually purchased and mounted
On the walls of the homes of those that come after
Like wallflowers forgotten
We watch and forget
Lest the forgotten be alive
The life we led
Adrift in memories of the dead

Very powerful. I was taken back to an Oregon beach and the driftwood scattered on the sand. Very nice! Today's prompt: https://steemit.com/freewrite/@mariannewest/day-245-5-minute-freewrite-thursday-prompt-prototype
