The Birthday: 5 Minute Freewrite, Prompt: Surprise Coming to You
Martha had managed to make it through the entire day without anyone realizing it was her birthday. She had woken up and gotten in her boring car, taken the boring highway, all the way to her boring office, just to sit in her boring cubicle and do her boring job. None of her coworkers knew, hell, she doubted half of them even knew her name.
It was so much easier in Colorado, where she had friends and family that cared. She was quickly regretting taking this job, no matter how much it paid. She had tried making friends early on, only to figure out that all of the people there were only there for the money, not the kind of person that makes a good friend. She was beginning to wonder if she was one of those people. She thought of what Kate would say if she was there, she would probably slap her in the head and berate her for being so down on herself.
After her boring day at work, she drove to her boring house and walked through her bor- smack "Why the hell do you look so sad?" Kate said, appearing from her hiding place behind the door and handing Martha a drink. "You didn't really think we were going to let you spend your birthday alone did you?" Martha smiled as her friends and family started emerging from their half-assed hiding spots.

Tip!
I don't really like celebrating my birthday as much as feasts in general (once or twice I forgot my own birthday). I had this surprise thing two years ago and it literally shocked me hahah. Nicely written, keep up freewriting and welcome to this crazy place ;-)
That's damn good. The only time I've been involved in a surprise party was my Dad's 60th. Probably the only time I've seen him cry.
I like it! Great set up showing her life... and a very nice surprise. So glad that you are writing with us!!
