Fix It - 5 Minute Freewrite: Sunday - Prompt: turbine
5 Minute Freewrite: Sunday - Prompt: turbine
It's been a while since I have used Steemit. I'm trying to get back in to it, doing these freewrite's that I loved to do before.
Time was of the essence. Ross and Sarah had five minutes to get up to the top of the tower and fix the turbine. It was of the utmost importance that they do this, for the very survival of their group depended on it.
'Look's like the coast is clear,' said Ross over the humming noise belching out of the machinery around them.
'True, but we best keep a look out. You never know when one of those freaks might show up,' replied Sarah.
Together they started to ascend the stairs, which wound their way up the and around all of the machines working below. Each footstep was met with the pounding clank of shoe on metal. Rust was clear to be seen all over the handles, and water was dripping from somewhere, but at the same time no where.
Finally, after what seemed like an hour, they arrived on a platform. Ross could make out the turbine, only one set of steps up. Steam was rising from the machinery beside it, obscuring the view beyond.
Suddenly there was a bang and a short, sharp scream. Spinning around, Ross felt his heart freeze and his limbs turning to jelly.
Standing only five feet away, eyes bloodshot red, was one of the freaks.
Was it… a steemit turbine?
Haha :)
