"Grab that kit. Just do it...", he whispered under his breath.
"I am not touching that!!" she whispered back.
"Just get it!! Pleaseeee...."
Suzie, took a deep breath and reached out for the kit and hesitated for a second. She could almost feel them squirming in there. Euuuuueeewwwww Gross!!!! She closed her eyes and grabbed it. If she thought too hard, she would probably not do it and then he'd whine for days.
She quickly handed it over to Matthew. He didn't take it from her and she accidentally dropped it and it opened. They started wiggling and squirming. She jumped back. Worms were gross.
"That's ok. Just grab one and do it for me. Come on, hook it up."
Suzie, stared at him in disbelieve. Is he kidding? Can anybody be this obsessed? She had made it very clear that she would follow him on this wild goose chase for the Golden Fish that was going to grant him a wish. She had laughed so hard until she realised he was serious. And so, to make sure he didn't do anything silly, she promised she'd go with him but no more than that.
He was already reeling in one, though he was struggling and he swore it was the Golden Fish. And then there was another fish that was swimming just at the surface, almost like it was trying to save the first fish and he was convinced it was another of its kind and he wanted that too.
"Nooooooo!! I don't want to and I'm going to tell Mother" Her brother had an imagination too wild and was always getting into trouble. And now this. The Golden Fish that was going to grant him a wish in return for its freedom. And now he wants two wishes?
"Come on Suzie. One wish for me and one for you. And don't talk so loudly, you are going to scare them."
Matthew and Suzie stopped arguing as their jaws dropped. Matthew's fish broke the surface of the water except it wasn't a fish!! It was a bird, a bird with wings, flapping as it tried to free itself. And jumping out of the water was the Golden Fish. Trying to free the bird.
