Saturdays Never Fail to Come (Freewrite Prompt)
This was supposed to be a piece for today's #freewrite prompt. I was done with the story before I realized I needed to have a partner for the 100th #freewrite challenge. Waiting for @svashta to wake up in about two hours. Maybe he'll pair up with me. lol
Meanwhile, enjoy this piece...
He was the runt of the litter and he gets thrown away when he wrestles his brothers, but he doesn’t mind at all. He likes that he’s little.
There’s just four of them now. Dobbie and Jack got taken away because they looked the healthiest. They weren’t the smartest though, he thought.
He knows Pram and Lulu would be next. Then Rick. Maybe if he stays tiny, he could stay with mom forever.
His stomach always hurt these days but he’s afraid to drink milk from mom. He doesn’t want to get big lest the man comes and take him too soon.
Mom would always nudge him to drink more but he would pretend he’s already full.
Then Saturday came.
Pram was not feeling well so Lulu was taken instead. He thought Pram was just feigning sick. Smart move.
Next Saturday, it was Pram’s turn. Maybe Pram couldn’t keep the act any longer, he thought.
Another Saturday and Rick was taken.
It’s just mom and him now. He doesn’t drink milk anymore, all he wants is to stay close to mom the whole day.
The man brings him milk in a bottle, hold his head and shoves the bottle in his mouth. He doesn’t like the taste of it but his weak body betrays him. He suckles at the bottle and the man doesn’t let go until he sucked every single drop of milk from it.
It’s Saturday again today.
The man comes in and takes him away from mom. Mom said to not make a fuss as she licked him one last time.
The man puts him in the backseat of the car where he silently whimpers. They drove for an hour, stopped in front of a nice house and went inside.
That was twelve years ago.
It’s Saturday again today and though he still remembers mom and Dobbie and Jack and Pram and Lulu and Rick, and the the man who brought him here, this is his life now - Saturdays spent lying on grass dreaming about cheesy treats and chasing butterflies while his humans grill burgers and the kids play on the trampoline.
He lost his family but gained a new one that fateful Saturday twelve years ago.

Hmmm, I don't know how I could continue this, it's not really written in a way to allow a second part...?
Would you wish to start a new piece with me?
@svashta Yes, I was thinking a new piece. :) How about option 3?
I'm happy that he was able to find a new, loving home!
Today I'm flying along on the back of a griffin to deliver the prompt to all of our fantastic Freewriters!
