Easy Freegan! Yesterdays Loot..

Well, Well, Well, what 'av we here then??

I went yesterday to get some multivitamins from the organic shop that I go to (these items are pritty much the only regular things I feel I should buy) where I get toothpaste, soap and deodorant- and took this what from the trolley that was to be taken out to the garbage.

I was heading just to get the Vit tablets and passed an old friend who I hadnt seen for a while since before Christmas and he said, "Hey , I owe you 500kr!" SCHWEET
I pointed to the shop just down the street on the corner and said I was heading there quick and then we could go find a cash point. I like being generous because its a great delight to bump into someone who you gave money to before but hadnt seen for some time, and suddenly bam, you got some extra cash for Crypto!

It was a new person working in the shop and so I didnt bother to ask and just went to the back out of sight where the trolley was ready to get wheeled out the back. Usually if I dont need anything special , I just go in and buy a small coconut water for 20kr just so I have an excuse to go look at what they are throwing out 😇

Delightful vegetarian meat It all tastes the same but looks different at least and has different shapes and packaging, I got exited because it said on some "spicy" Ha- Yeh right- Check out the finds!

This is so funny what is written on the packaging if you read Norwiegen, down there it says "Leather trouser style?!"

I had given the friend a lot of food as I know he is just receiving government money and is a vegetarian since years, oh and also gave some to passers buy after declaring in a loud voice that the food was found to be thrown away, and then went to offer it to people who stopped and looked over. One woman was obviously well rich by her appearance, and was delighted to do something rebellious and take some freegan food. There was over double this amount but I dont have a freezer at home, and Id have to carry it which weighed alot.

Nearly forgot there was also these coldpressed drinks that are actually made in Oslo.

And the end result..

Just another day if you have time to explore what we as humans are wasting daily, and this was just one small shop in one small city!

Heres my last post relating to what is too be found if you have time to look, I did a "walkwithme" type effect A Day In The Life Of A LandPirate

Thank you all! When you go buy something next from the store, go first around the back and just have a peek in the trash container, you dont have to touch any trash, just lift the lids and see whats there.. Maybe next time or later when its closed, you can come back with rubber gloves and take whats there if you have TIME!

Sort:

Thaks a lot recycling this food.I think all the food is fresh.

It is yes, some people in the west appreciate that not everyone in the world is able to do this

So good that these goods will be consumed instead of going to the garbage!
Kudos! @movingman

90% of what I consume since travelling would have or already was thrown out 😂 theres really no point in working to buy food! Vegans (im not a vegan tho) shouldnt have to buy any food at all, fruit veg and bread ate the most common things to be found

It would be quite interesting if you made a post about your average ''monthly budget'' and the way you manage/use money.

Great idea! That one for the future then :) thanks for that!

Nitpick: lederhosen is German, not Norwegian :-)

Haha fuck i have too many languages in my head! 😂

Thanks @movingman, for reminding us how sinfully wasteful our economic model and culture are. It's a sad fact that people are dying from hunger, when we in the so-called "civilized" part of the world waste so much. A supermarket is always chock-full of products, a lot of which will never be sold before it's expiration date and will be thrown away some time before that, like you demonstrate.

Thanks for sharing and sound advice my friend.

Hi mate! one of the things that pisses me off is that when I was living in "House Life", I was working like everyone else, I always had an above average paid job but somehow I only ever could afford the cheap food which I have since learned is just complete crap. My diet consisted of purely processed foods, that were quick to take out the freezer and pop in the oven after a days grafting.
White Bread, White Pasta, Canned beans, Microwave foods, Frozen Vegetables (hahaha fuck its weird to write this and to think it was "me") White sugar - I used like a KG a week?!
Cheap , Nasty and No Nutritional values

But this was all that I could afford to eat. Organic food where I grew up was only eaten by well off familys, and its was just out of the question to be able to buy anything Organic. Shit, I was so dumbed down and ignorant that I thought Organic foods should be cheaper because they dont have to use chemicals, and plus I didnt really care at all as long as I wasnt hungry. Organic foods were just for the rich, thats just how it was growing up.

All these years, there has been the opportunity to go and check in the trash and not only people in "third world countries" are going hungry, I know many English family's who are still in the position I was in eating shit food thinking Organic foods are just for the rich because they can only afford the processed stuff. If we had all known about this waste, we would have been able to eat great food instead of the cheap stuff they let people afford to buy and would have had a better quality of life, but they know this of course!

One nice thing I saw the last months, is that here in Norway, on the organic milk from supermarket, they now have best before, BUT not bad after.. and then the date :)
