RE: Why we won't have civil war in America

in #freedom7 years ago

It must be admitted that no country is exempt from breaking into rival factions that end up firing. Today it seems impossible for the United States to derive in that direction, but the Germans, before 1933, said that the strange Adolf Hitler would never win the favor of the electorate of the most cultured and powerful country in Europe. A few days before the beginning of the 1910 civil war, the New York Times praised the Mexican fortress achieved under the dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz. There are many examples.

Let's see the symptoms of before the war. Did not the Americans choose Donald Trump, a person who is not part of the political parties, a true stranger who can say something today and tomorrow to the contrary, to the extent that Bill Kristol, the intellectual leader of the neoconservatives, affirms that the Trump's experience not the art of negotiation, but of demagoguery? Does not Trump say that the electoral system is not reliable and that the press constantly lies? Do not insult or dismiss the members of the cabinet that he himself has chosen? Is not it true that Republicans and Democrats do not agree on almost anything in the legislative field? Is it not true that for many years the Tyrians and the Trojans have taken different paths in foreign policy?

However, although all these symptoms point to the almost total delegitimization of the system, I do not believe that the American political situation is worse today than in the past. The tension of the Kennedy era, the confrontation of young people with their successor Lyndon Johnson and the bitter period of Nixon, which culminated with his resignation from the presidency, seem to me as much or more serious than what is happening today.

The American republic, designed essentially by James Madison, with its checks and balances, has shown great strength and flexibility. When I recognized Riopedre, I wrote that, although the next American civil war was possible, I do not think it is likely. The foundations are very firm.

It seems the practice of oppression and robbery of the neighbors firmly entrenched in the everyday life of this country. That is the reason for their wealth and prosperity.
