If I owned a take-out restaurant in N.O. but didn't need to reach the whole city... let's just say 1k to 5k around a prescribed, limited radius of my place, would you allow me to stuff some 5.5 x 8.5 flyers in the book before you mail it to the area? See? A small shop doesn't have the manpower to handle all that extra business a flyer would bring if it is too much, at the same time. I need to drip them out 1,000 at a time. I know there are other take out places with the same dilemma; especially if they feature delivery. Now, what if we planned on reaching 50 businesses / professionals who would agree to put out a stack of 20 for their clientele in their waiting area? That's the way to distribute 1,000 books.... FREE OF CHARGE.... saving postage, while garnering some sort of display as well. Now, consider we can stuff 10 flyers in each book. Each business ponies up $83. for their 1k... which can include 2 sided, b&w printing.
