The frosty politics of this world, what is free speech?

I been watching the recent news coverage with increasing dismay and worry. Not so much about the state of the worlds greatest democracy. That’s actually a republic like old Greece. And not a true democracy but a long running stable one. USA I am talking about you.

Although these recent events or actually the recent four years have been harrowing and very unstable due to its leadership. I am more worried about the nativity and ignorance of the masses. The uneducated are so easily manipulated by politicians and reality TV has tricked people into thinking that one needs no talent, education or intelligence to succeed. Just be loud and brash enough and think you are all that. It’s a message been hammered in since early 90’s MTV real world debuted.

So we now find ourselves with a large population that don’t understand their rights or the rights of government. A large group of people that paraphrase what politicians and talking heads tell them about free speech, constitution and the Bible. These ardent defenders or vigilantes rarely read or form their own opinion.

If they read they would understand that you have freedom of speech, not freedom of consequence. You’re government can’t stop you from saying it but they can punish you for the effects of your actions. Like government has monopoly on violence through a social contract. They have the cops and the military. And if you break that contract you break the law. So if your speech that you are free to say and they can’t stop enables violence you must suffer the consequences. Freedom of speech only limits the government not private cooperations or entities. Government can’t stop your hate speech but they can punish you for it.

I wish people would just read more.
