Il Mont Saint-Michel è un isolotto tidale situato presso la costa settentrionale della Francia, dove sfocia il fiume Couesnon, sul quale venne costruito un santuario in onore di San Michele Arcangelo, il cui nome originario era Mons Sancti Michaeli in periculo mari (in latino) o Mont Saint-Michel au péril de la mer (in francese: in italiano, letteralmente, "Monte San Michele al pericolo del mare").
