RE: Israël : Territorialisme ou racisme?

in #fr7 years ago (edited)

Jewish people recall the terrible things done to their relatives during the great war with the adage 'Never forgive, never forget'. The rest of us understand it to mean, never do the same things to any people again. Ironic that zionist politicians since before the war were working hard to put flesh on a different agenda which finds expression in this kind of inhumane treatment of anyone who is not a Jew. One would think that people who were once refugees, and who themselves are foreigners on other people's land, would not do these things. It seems that adage is today interpreted by hard core zionists to imply a bitter promise to exert revenge and treat others with the inhumanity their relatives once experienced. It is that strange, disingenuous logic that says 'we are under threat so we must and should do harm to everyone else'.

Sort:

It's human to want to defend yourself when you're threatened. But that doesn't explain how they treat people. The human has a small memory.

Thanks for the summary / overview.

Yes, what Israel does is unconscionable. Over the past few decades, Israel has literally stolen most Palestine land. Now, many Palestinians cannot even move around their neighbourhoods without being stopped and turned back by Israeli soldiers. Or hindered by a massive wall. (Never forget Berlin.)

In many ways, Israel is not a democracy, but a racist, apartheid state. Maybe worse. South Africa never rained bombs down onto the bantustans the way Israel bombs the crap out of Gaza.

And if anyone ever tries to tell you that that is just Israel "trying to defend itself," remind them that the supposed "weapons" that Palestinians might lob into Israel territory are tiny firecrackers compared to the massive lethal missiles fired by the Israeli armed forces.

It horrifying and horrible. One would have hoped that the holocaust would make the Zionists more humane. Instead, they've become excessively inhumane, almost inhuman.

As a Jewish anti-Zionist once told a gathering in Toronto, "Zionism is the worst tragedy to befall the Jewish people since the holocaust."

@trumanity Yes probably true

Truly ironic. And very sad.
p.s. I like the name "trumanity"!

I'm happy you do - I wonder about my choice sometimes because it might be misconstrued as a sexist name. In fact, it is a reference to a famous essay by Biko (anti apartheid leader) in which he espouses the need for our search for our true humanity after years of subjugating or being subjugated.

I have looked over your blog and found a lot to keep me interested. Followed.
