Alyssum comes in many colors, like purple and white. The bushes branch out a lot but stay a good size, about 20-40 cm. Some types live for one year, others for many. Usually, people grow it as a one-year plant.

The leaves of this ground cover are long. It starts flowering in May and lasts until late fall. The sweet-smelling flowers grow in clusters. There are around 200 kinds of alyssum in nature.

Alyssum is also called sweet alyssum. Some might mix it up with lawn grass or lobularia, but that's not right. Lobularia is related to alyssum, but they aren't the same.

Both plants are in the same family. They used to be in the same group. But, scientists saw differences in how they look and grow. So, they put them in two groups. Calling alyssum lobularia on a seed packet is not correct, but growing them is similar.
