Yes, if you have a small yard it might not be the best producing plant for you. But most fruit trees or vines take a lot of room. If you don't have any fruit growing and want to have some, you do not have to make the trellis for them to run on as big and it will stay in a smaller place. I have seen people grow them across only 10 feet of space and they did fine. Also, you can go high with them. I have seen them growing on an arch above someone's side walk. They put a single plant on each side and allowed them to grow up and meet in the middle. After a few years, they literally grew together. A single plant with roots on two sides, lol.
