Cerro Porteno teenage striker sets club record by scoring his first pro goal at the age of 14
The Paraguayan clásico clash between Olimpia and Cerro Porteno turned into the real thriller thanks to not one, but two late goals scored by both sides to settle the combative 2:2 draw.
But the opening goal of the derby made an absolute history. It was scored by Cerro Porteno striker Fernando Ovelar, who was born in 2004 thus making him just 14 years and 10 months old. We don’t really know how and also what for the teenager got himself on the pitch, but the his finishing move was very satisfying. Running from the deep, he picked up the through ball to accomplish the delightful flick past the opponent goalkeeper with ease. Pro finish.
Unsurprisingly, Fernando became the youngest goalscorer in club history as he netted his first goal in just second senior appearance. Not bad at all.
