Local league: Match report
I just came to realize that watching our local league is very interesting, unlike the top leagues played around the world, you’ll be glued to the match for 90 minutes because no replay, once you miss the action, that’s all, you’ll have to wait or pray for another action to come up.
It’s day 2 of the Lagos armature league tournament, I’m a fan of Gbagada FC, my old friend is their right back.
Here is a report on their match against Iganmu FC my team is playing away in there all blue attire.
I’ll be bringing to you their matches from now till the end of the season
IGANMU FC 1 GBAGADA FC 0
Our second game of the season ended in another defeat as we weren’t able to savor a point from a game which we had much openings and a goal disallowed.
The game seem like those ones where you find luck against you after doing everything that could had been done to secure a point on the road. It is our second away game in succession and we had hoped to come back with at least one point with the display on the day.
The first 45 minutes saw us created no real chance.
On a rainy Wednesday afternoon the weather was clear before the game kicked off which set a perfect weather for both teams to play in. our host started the game pressing high, which got them a free kick right at the edge of our box in the 5th minute which was nicely dealt with by the defense line. Ajulo Jeremiah got the first booking on the 21st minute.
22nd minute in we grew further in the game and was able to string passes in building our attack, this time the Iganmu defense was active as our successive attempts were been blocked as they finally were able to clear to safety. The game remained goalless into the half hour until there was a penalty appeal in the 38th minute when Edema Peter was seemingly looked to have been struck from behind in the box but wasn’t given.
In the last five minutes to the end of the first half we had a break and Gbadamosi Oluwasegun was set on a through pass, the anticipated Iganmu GK rushed out to avert the situation in the end had a collision with the midfielder which surprisingly Gbadamosi got the a booking for in the 41st minute. The game ended goalless at the end of the half.
At the start of the second half, two changes were effected as Babatunde and Ahmed came on for Gbadamosi and Edema* respectively. Our first chance of the half came in the 48th minute when a Babatunde’s deep free kick from the left fell towards the path of Seriki in the box while unmarked he hit his shot high off target.
The attack were building up for us at this time as the chances kept coming, on the 51st minute seem to be clearest chances at the time as Semiu’s close header from a resulting corner kick went straight to the hands of the GK. Iganmu made their first substitution in the 54th minute.
The 55th minute saw our host went ahead in the game after a brilliant run down the right from Lateef Adeboye who cut into the box past our defense and hit his target into the top corner leaving Kabiru with no option to saving the attempt.
Jide Taiwo was subbed off in the 58th minute for our final change as Oriyomi Adesegun (my guy) came on. A cross into the box saw Ahmed’s header calmly saved by the GK, at this time we were working hard in attack for the equalizer which saw Iganmu got booking twice in the last 15 minutes. Iganmu also initiated another substitution at this time.
The big call came in the 88th minute as Ahmed went through on goal, easily chipped the ball over the GK who rushed out towards his direction and the ball which seem to had gone past the line was cleared by the defender and after few seconds the referee gave a no goal signal, which might have been a well-deserved equalizer.
With 3 minute of added on time the referee blew the whistle for full time as the host got all 3 points.
Our focus now turns to our home game in 9 days time as we face B. Angels FC and hopefully turn our season around with our first win of the campaign.
