Detroit Lions

After a 9 - 7 season and a coaching change the Detroit Lions are in a position where they have the city expecting immediate success and immediate wins.

This is new for the Lions unlike many other franchises because throughout the years of never winning a NFC championship, Never going to a Super Bowl, and over 20 years without a division title; the owner and president have sold the fans on this Patriots way in Detroit.

New England Patriots are by the far the most successful franchise over the last 15+ years and that success has been sampled by the Detroit Lions. In case this is new to you, the Lions have brought in:

Bob Quinn (General Manager) 15 years with the Patriots loving up from low level scout to director of pro scouting

Kyle O’Brien (Director of Player Personnel) started with the Patriots in 2000 helped them win the SuperBowl in 2001.

Matt Patricia (Head Coach) Coached with the Patriots for over 13 years. Moving up through the ranks to Defensive Coordinator this past year coaching in the SuperBowl again.

And a handful of other coaches.

This connection has gotten fans optimistic and believing the up to now impossible, that the Lions can win a SuperBowl. Given my love for the team and optimistic nature, I believe that every year but something I’ve notice from a lot of the so called fans this year is that they truly believe it now. It’s like the Lions organization listened to the people and rallied to give them something that they can wrap their minds around, has the pedigree they trust, and changed the perception of their own commitment to winning.

Relating that to business (because that’s what I do with almost everything), It’s like the last post I talk about (https://steemit.com/marketing/@rscott31/no-1-step-to-do-before-starting-your-business). They evaluated what they did well, what other teams that are successful are doing, what the players felt about performance, and what the fans were hoping for in the off season. All of that research to not only acquire one of the most sought after NFL assistants out there in addition to keeping a few key components from last years team in Jim Bob Cooter (Offensive Coordinator) being able to keep one of the most Dangerous offensive coordinators in house.

That has revamped the culture outside of the building, at least for now.

The previous administration and coach I feel changed the culture within the locker room and front offices, but the fans and media and the outside noise needed a change as well. The ownership has provided that to them.

As I said I’m always optimistic so I’m an easy sell, but something that I am going to keep track of is the fan love through out this off season. Before they can see the team on the field how are people responding to the moves the front office and coaching staff are making.

I’ll keep you all updated....
