LIVERPOOL knocked Manchester City out of the Champions League and broke a 15-year-old record belonging to Manchester United in the
Procces.
City took a third minuted lead on the night but goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino ensured the Red progressed to the semi-finals 5-1 on aggregate.

Those two goals also meant that Liverpool now have Champions League record for most goals by an English team in a single season.

Jurgen Klopp's side scored their 32nd and 33rd goals of the competition in the quarter-final second leg at the Etihad Stadium tonight.

The two strikes mean they have overhauled Manchester United's record set back in the 2002-03 season.

Firmino took his individual Champions League to eight for the season, while Salah has now netted the same number.

Sadio Mane has scored seven goals in the campaign and Philippe Coutinho contributed five before his £142m move to Barcelona. image
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has added two strikes, the second a long-range stunner in the fIrst leg against City.

Liverpool will now have at least two more matches in which to score again as they look forward to the semi-final draw om Friday.

One team they certainly cannot draw is Barcelona after the Catalan giants were eliinated by Roam who turned around 4-1 first-leg deficit.

It was also a record-breaking evening for Salah and Firmino as their goals ensured they became the first Liverpool players to score eight times in a single Champions League season.

Overall, Salah has an incredible 39 goals for the Reds this season, marking an outstanding debut campaign for the former Chelsea man.

In total he has been involved in no less than a half century of goals for his club, a mark unmatched by anyone else in the English top flight.
