The whole of the King Power faithful will be beaming with excitement following their team's progression to the final of the 2021 FA Cup after seeing off fellow premier league side, Southampton, courtesy of a Kelechi Iheanacho solitary goal.

It was a match up between teams with an asymentry history in the competition. Both teams have before today met seven times in the competition with both winning three games each and one draw.

Despite the foregoing statistic, Southampton came into today's game as an underdog by virtue of their recent form in the league and Leicester City currently placing third on the premier league log.

The first half was a bundle of activity with both team trying to stamp their authority on the game. Like the first semifinal clash between Chelsea and Manchester City, both teams also struggled to create any clear cut chance. It was no surprise that the first half ended without a shot on target from either side.

Southampton would be the happier side of the two as they survived a late first half scare to go into the break level.

The Saints came out brighter after the restart and controlled proceedings but as the first half, could not create any goalscoring opportunity. Most of their threats came from set pieces, banking of the magnificence of James Ward Prowse.

The breakthrough finally came in the 55th minute. Jamie Vardy received a pass from Ricardo on a half turn, allowing it run behind him into space. His space was pivotal as he raced beyond Stuart Armstrong and to the byline before pulling a cut back for Kelechi Iheanacho, whose first attempt was sailing wide off target but a wicked defection off the leg of Jannick Vestergard presented Iheanacho with the second chance which he side footed through the legs of Ryan Bertrand, beyond Fraser Foster in goal. That turned out to be the only shot on target in the whole of the game.

The Saints responded well to the goal but as has been in the whole of the match, they were starved of goalscoring ooprotnuities.

James Maddison was also culprit of missing a couple of goalscoring ooprotnuites after coming on í the latter stages of the game.

Leicester City have now reached their first FA Cup final since 1969 where they will face competition's favorite and last season's losing finalist, Chelsea on the 15th of May 2021.
