Spain fires Lopetegui from the national team

After the announcement made by Real Madrid informing Julen Lopetegui was the new team manager, Luis Rubiales has announced they are releasing Lopetegui.

Fernando Hierro, Real Madrid ex-player is set to replace Lopetegui for the World Cup.

So basically they are shooting themselves in the foot now, how can Spain go into the World Cup when they just fired their manager a couple days prior to their next match?, at the very least the team will be distracted and will lose the guy that has trained them for years.

After this, is Spain still considered as one of the favourites to win the tournament?

Is this rash decision made just out of pettiness to lash out against Lopetegui and Real Madrid?

And more importantly, how can the Real Madrid players react after this decision?
