The stage is now set for the quarter final show down after a dramatic and entertaining night of football on Wednesday 14th March, 2018, that saw the emergence of the last two teams; Bayern Munich and Barcelona, thereby completing the eight teams to face-off on the field of play.

This is the first Champions League in a while where there is huge uncertainty as to who wins the title. Maybe it will become clearer after the quarter final games have been played.

However, you cannot rule out Real Madrid who are chasing the third trophy in a row. This is because of the ease in which they knocked out their opponent PSG in the round of 16, by defeating them 5:2 home and away aggregate win.

Another title contenders is Barcelona. They saw off Chelsea 4:1 aggregate with Messi scoring 3 of the goals to earn him a centry of goals in the Champions League.

Bayern Munich cannot be overlooked in their quest for the title. After finishing second behind PSG in the group stage, they came back strong in the round of 16 by demolishing Besiktas 8:1 on aggregate. This is a statement of intent which is capable of sending shivers down the spine of other opponents.

A team that soccer fans are looking at is Manchester City. They defeated Basel 5:2 aggregate score line but lost at the Etihad. They are now looked upon to fly the English flag after Manchester United and Chelsea were knocked out of the tournament.
