Today’s topic is about Football and blockchain.
What? But how can these 2 be married you might ask yourself?
Well, someone thought it through and came up with a project called London Football Exchange.
There are over 4 billion football fans around the world and many more billions of dollars that this industry is generating, about $33 world wide. However, one issue is the high price of tickets and merchandise, that fans need to pay.
Another issue is who is owning the football clubs. So far, the ownership is dominated by a few wealthy people and you as a fan, are not invited to truly be part of your favourite club. At this point, there is no way to get your hands on shares and also be rewarded if the club performs well.
LFE stands for London Football Exchange but also for Loyal Fan Experience and this is exactly their aim, to create a decentralised ecosystem where football fans can easily interact with their favourite game and be rewarded for participation.
The cool part of this project is that they plan to be the world’s first ever stock exchange dedicated to offering football fans the opportunity to invest in the shares of football clubs built on blockchain. I think this openness is something very appealing to supporters everywhere, right?
LFE plan is to create a global movement for the sport community where fans have access to various dedicated experiences.
Let’s talk a bit more about these experiences
- on pitch experiences - purchase services and goods in stadiums, meeting the football players
- off pitch experiences - accumulate points and get rewards/ discounts for loyalty
- LFE access to matches - venue access, tickets, seats
- LFE events - exclusive events, VIP access to clubs
