Juventus through its official website on Thursday (01/02/2018) announced to register Stephan Lichtsteiner into the squad that will compete in the knockout phase of the Champions League 2017-2018.
Lichtsteiner did not enter the Juventus squad for the Champions League group phase. The situation could make a connection between the Swiss player with the club heats up.
Not playing in the Champions League makes Lichtsteiner a mainstay when Juventus play in the domestic arena. Throughout the season, the 34-year-old featured in 19 games with two assists.
Apparently, Lichsteiner's slick appearance was not spared from the observations of coach Massimiliano Allegri. As a result, Allegri decided to register Lichtsteiner to wade the autumn phase.
Of all the players who had registered for the Champions League group phase, one name was dropped to give Lichtsteiner a place. Benedikt Howedes who more often entered the treatment room became a victim.
Juventus will face Tottenham Hotspur in the last 16 of the Champions League. La Vecchia Signora will host Tottenham at the Allianz Stadium first on 13 February 2018.
