Memories of the legend

in #football7 years ago

Hallo steemians...

This time I discuss a bit about the journey about Arsenal defender, where in his time they are a historic duet of the journey of Arsenal, Tony Adams and Martin keown which is now a legend that is deeply recalled by the Arsenal supporters in the 1997/98 season.

In that season Arsenal only conceded 33 times from 38 matches. Then the next season they reap a better achievement in the line of defense. Despite failing the champions but thanks to their slick cooperation, the Gunners conceded only 17 times from 38 league matches.

Even the Bould-Adams or Keown-Adams duets are often regarded as the best bar in England. Not at Arsenal alone but in the England team also they are the best in his time, in England Tony and Keown is a very strong and solid wall of defense.

Keown is one of Arsenal's academic products which was still based in Highbury. His performance was not impressive, but he managed to penetrate the senior team in November 1985. He did not get a minute playing routine so decided to leave to Aston Villa next summer.

Three years later, Keown merged into Everton with a ransom of £ 750,000 million. He recorded more than 100 appearances with The Toffees and became one of the main penggawa during four years of service. But in mid-1993, the center-back decided to return to his childhood club. Keown is repatriated by Arsenal with a £ 2million dowry. It was quite big in those days, but the Gunners obviously did not regret the purchase. Keown did not immediately appear impressive in the comeback season with Arsenal, but he slowly asserted his position at Highbury.

Keown finally left Arsenal in the summer of 2004 and he has recorded 310 appearances with Gunners in the Premier League, plus more than 100 appearances in other competitions. The center-back has also won 43 caps with the England national team and had formed a formidable duet in defense with Tony Adams.

After his nervous debut as a 17-year-old, Adams blossomed quickly and was made Arsenal's youngest ever skipper at the age of 21. We watched in awe as he became a colossus, the lynchpin of the famous back four which won titles under both George Graham and Arsene Wenger. He captained a league title-winning team in three different decades and led the club to numerous other trophies, including three FA Cups and a European Cup Winners' Cup. Away from the game, he challenged and defeated his demons.

It makes it all the more disappointing that, since he hung up his boots after 669 games for the club, the man we looked up to for so long has become an increasingly embarrassing, almost tragic figure.

Adams has several qualities that make it instantly a mainstay at a young age, proper tackle calculation, game reading ability, and ability in air duel. Coupled with the soul of his fighter, mental and physical endurance, desire for winning, and leadership, Adams deserves to be Arsenal's youngest captain.

Wenger has made Adams so eloquent that Wenger gives him the nickname of professor of defense (dubbed a professor by a nicknamed le professeur), imagine a player who master and play the ball. Under Wenger, Adams's role not only dampens the opponent's attack, but also builds his team's attack from the back line.

Adams's success was at the highest level since the start of his career, and Adams's success kept his level until retirement, making him one of the best central defenders Arsenal and England have ever had. Until now there has been no record-breaking Adams: playing in 60 official matches at Wembley.

Nothing yet, to date, the player who won the English League in three decades as different captain. And yet there are also English players who play defending national teams in the championship between countries in three different decades. In both, Adams is the first and still the only one.

That's all and thank you
