in #foods7 years ago (edited)

German, like what is the first thing comes through your mind when mentioning Germany?

Sausage or maybe a beer? No, we're not gonna discuss alcohol, but the main star of German dishes, meat! unironically, you need beer to truly enjoy these German dish, well you clearly didn't have to but to respect any regional culture as there is, you need to enjoy whats on the table.. You clearly know these kinda etiquette, right?

Well today, as said before, I decide to discuss German first before we head on to other Europe country, Well its German, its Sausage. And no! I'm not trying to be stereotype things... Since the first Europe food tour it was never to be meant like that :(

I didn't know anything about Sausage, so do enlighten

Well, me neither.. I'm not even European just to be familiar with it, well with trusty source I've chosen and my skimming technique, I present you another food historical value

Sausage, where originally a cured meat, again!, traced back to the original German heritage where it was a way survival where they gather a precious meat scraps during winter time, like nothing could be wasted during that time where the olds created it by gathering a little pig parts, like everything, except the squeak, at this point we're familiar with calling it as sausage,

now you know (`∀´)Ψ

Well this comes with a conclusion that Germany was a great place for a cured sausage, well you damn right it was. It was considered a lil itsy bitsy fact, I rather then continue on the matter, that's why at the end I strongly urge you guys to check the full article.  (。-ω-)ノ

Straight to the matter, where does the word Bratwurst come from?

As we know the original name of this chain-like meat we know is sausage, one does have a theory is that Brat is an Old High German word (spoken between the 9th and 11th centuries, it goes far wayyy back) that is literally meaning a meat without waste and Wurst means sausage and that it probably comes from the word wirren that originally meant 'mixture'. Even when you are cooking a sausage you are actually performing one of the oldest cooking technique, it is know from the "Apicus Cookery", the first recorded cookbook approx. 228 AD Has a sausage recipes in it. Apicus lived in Rome, but who knows and when where this technique began.

there is actually a Bratwurst Researcher from Würzburg, Heinrich  Höllerl, has dicovered that the Bratwurst has its origins with the Celtics, and it was the Franconians that developed it further more. Historians finds oldest recipe for bratwurst, Thuninga is state in Germany that really takes their bratwurst seriously like Chicago takes deep dish pizza and any other representation a likes

A document was found recently dating to 1432, showing that Bratwurst makers had a strict guidelines on what the quality had to be or they were fined.  (ʘᗩʘ’), further information has to be seen in order to make any of these to make sense provided with link in the end of  article

Well, there is actually over 40 different varieties of Bratwurst throughout Germany, there are theories of where the Bratwurst was first started. Many from Thuringa say they stuffed the first wurst. The Franconian's feek frankly they started the sausage we call Bratwurst.  Heinrich Höllerl a bratwurst historian, says he discovered that the Bratwurst has its origins with the celtics and again, it was the Franconians that developed it further.

So it was Celtics? Yes, the first Celts were from an area of Austria, and then migrated ending up in Northern England and Ireland. I was like, what?? I guess that's explain their drinking habit?

Hmm, its still unclear to me actually, but hey, at least I try... Until I see the end of article says that most of these were just a "few" of the Bratwurst and other related history  (゜ロ゜)  , I strictly suggest that you have to see the full article here, and maybe these too
