Today Is My Grandson's 1st Month Here on Earth

Today my grandson celebrated his 1st month. Even if he is not here we had a simple celebration. for him . I will also use this as my entry fro @juliank's #foodphotography for Monday.

This pancit. One of the staple foods for Filipinos. It is usually served on birthdays for #long-life. Also on New Year and other celebrations. Fiesta and more. Made with noodles, pork, beef or chicken, and vegetables. Just stir-fry them together, add spices and serve hot.

Since it was just simple, I had pork and chicken adobo made. Enough for all of us. Cut the pork and chicken into bite size. Saute the pork first in onions and garlic. Add vinegar and astuete sauce, add spices. Then let boil till almost tender. Add the chicken bits later (because chicken cooks faster). Then boil to reduce the liquid. If you want a lot of sauce because some like to mix with their rice (like my mom), after the original fluid reduces, then add a little more water and vinegar and spices. Boil a few minutes so the flavor will come out. Sometimes we add a little sugar to give the adobo a boost of flavor. Adobo is another famous Filipino dish and a lot of foreigners love it. But there are a lot of ways to cook it.

A birthday party is not complete without cake and ice cream. We also said a prayer for him before lunch.
