Furikake | on-the-go food for busy all-nighters
For the past few days, I've been cramming to finish a compilation of questionnaires for a subject I have enrolled. I have less than 3 more days to finish at least half of it because I know it will be helpful for reviewing for our on-the-spot quizzes, and I know I won't have extra time to answer it for the incoming days since I'm having my second Internship as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
I easily get hungry even if I had taken my dinner in the last two hours. Yeah, that's how quick my stomach empties 😂 Good thing, I have these different flavors of furikake to keep me satisfied for an all-night work. Furikake is a dry Japanese seasoning meant to be sprinkled on top of cooked rice, vegetables, and fish, but personally, I got them mixed with cooked brown rice and lititle sesame oil (brings me a taste of homemade sushi). It typically consists of a mixture of dried fish, sesame seeds, chopped seaweed (nori), sugar, salt, and monosodium glutamate. Setting aside the MSG which is bad for my kidneys, furikake is still my fave! I have flavors like wasabi, seawees & egg (noritama), cod roe (tarako), salmon (sake), bonito (okaka), and sukiyaki. But there are other flavors like red perilla (yukari) , grilled meat (yakiniku) ,vegetable
(takana), and many other more. In the future, I want myself to be the one making my own mixes of furikake!
