RE: Eat me!

Nice work. Food photography can be really fun. As an advertising product photographer, I have a couple tips that will really help you along.

  1. Light from the rear. This builds more interest, provides more texture and is generally a go to technique for food.

  2. Search the portfolios on Workbook for "food" and go through the work you see there. Study the light. ;)

  3. Look at food as a product. Then study product photography. Specifically lighting different "materials". You light textured surfaces differently than you light highly reflective surfaces. Study those techniques.

You pay attention to those things above and you'll see leaps and bounds in improvement (not that what you have isn't good). We can all be better. :)
