Cake Timphan Reinforce Gathering

The timphan cake becomes a mandatory menu on every Eid Fitri and Eid Adha days in Aceh. This cake can be found every home on the day of Eid, this menu becomes the main when entertaining guests who come to the house stay in touch.

Currently this timphan cake is not made on Lebaran day, but on other big day in Aceh timphan is also provided for guest.

Timphan is a traditional Acehnese cake, an ancestral heritage food in Aceh used to be handed down from generation to generation in Aceh bloodline, every woman in Aceh can make this timphan.


Glutinous rice flour and banana or ground pumpkin mashed with coconut milk.


This heritage cake becomes a place of communication between Acehnese women. Not just in the family alone, but with neighbors or other relatives too this is always done. As they are taught how to make it, they will talk to each other and transfer each other so that the silaturrahmi rope between them is tightly bound.


The cake was oval-shaped in a young banana leaf, about the size of two or three times the size of an adult's finger. Timphan soft with the main ingredients of flour and banana and the contents of the coconut plus sugar or srikaya. Its content depends on taste.

In addition to using bananas, some also use papaya and ground gourd, flour collaboration with papaya, flour with ground gourd also make this timphan cake very tasty.

Srikaya is made from eggs, coconut milk, flour, sugar and finely chopped jackfruit. This material needs to be cooked before it becomes part of the timphan.

Timphan is a cake and typical Aceh cuisine at important events in the Aceh culture. Timphan is often made especially for Lebaran day, wedding party. This is the main appetizer for the guests in attendance.
