Did you know about spagetti?
In Italian, the word "spaghetti" is the plural of the word "spaghetto" derived from the word "spago". Spago means rope. Match is yes the same shape, hehe. In addition to the spaghetti we often encounter, there are other types of spaghetti, such as spaghettoni and vermicelli. This spaghettoni is thicker in diameter than spaghetti, and it takes a while to cook. In contrast, vermicelli is much slimmer than spaghetti, to the point of being called angel hair spaghetti in English.
Marco Polo-the famous Italian explorer, is thought to have brought this food to his homeland after the expedition to China in 1295. But another source mentions the evidence that spaghetti has long existed in Italy, even long before Marco Polo's expedition to China.
The ancient Greeks and Romans also used to eat a kind of food similar to (and probably true) spaghetti, only they cooked it on a rock. The Arabs ate a kind of boiled noodle like pasta, and it was probably theirs that introduced the pasta to the Italians during the Sicilian conquest.
Spaghetti became popular in Italy, a bit more because the Climate in Italy is indeed suitable for Durham wheat crops. From Durham wheat is obtained semolina, a kind of flour for the manufacture of spaghetti. In the past, spaghetti commonly eaten dried like crackers lho. But as soon as the Italians realized how yummy it was to mix pasta and tomatoes, they were competing to eat spaghetti with ketchup sauce.
