RE: Midsummer Stone Fruit Face-Off Competition

in #food6 years ago (edited)

I thought it was really cool that you included a white nectarine in the competition. Growing up in the midwest, I never ate a "white" nectarine, only the regular yellow-orange ones, and they have always been one of my favorites. I never had a white nectarine before moving to southern california and they have become one of my favorite fruits since trying them a few years ago. I love peaches as well though and can't fault you for picking the yellow freestone peach. Great ending by the way - I found it to be especially funny as I grew up in a small farming town in Wisconsin surrounded by corn fields, and there's just something about fresh sweet corn in the middle of summer lol! This was a well done post, and I thoroughly enjoyed the read. I love fruit and to be honest never knew some of the hybrids you talked about even existed.

Thanks for the great comment. There sure is plenty of corn in the Midwest! I'd had a white peach when I was growing up, but very rarely. The proliferation of white stone fruit is fairly new, I think.
