How Expensive is Guadalajara, Mexico? Challenge: Eating Out on $10 Per Day
Hola, desde Guadalajara! Due to an overwhelmingly positive response after our last $10 challenge, we decided to take it on again in this massive city.
Is it expensive to live in Guadalajara? How much does it cost to eat at restaurants in Guadalajara? Can I afford to live in Guadalajara?
Before visiting the city, we had these questions, too. Therefore, we took on the challenge again to see if we could feed ourselves in restaurants and from street vendors for an entire day on just $10 USD or 185 pesos (the current exchange rate).
See if we could make it happen as we explore the cost of living in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Make sure to watch it all the way through if you want to see Maddie's mega freak-out as we were walking home. It doesn't have anything to do with the safety of Guadalajara...unless you consider the extra-small Mexican "residents" dangerous!
We use this action cam to shoot our videos.

Hola los amigos,
Nice to see you made to your next destination. Enjoy every moment of your travel. The fruits looks so delicious and fresh looking.
Good luck on $10 day survival....you can do it.
Hola amigo!
We’re enjoying the fresh tropical fruit in almost every city we visit. I felt like I had to pinch pennies for this challenge after buying a 60 peso breakfast. But in the end I still had enough to eat Cookie Monster and drink a Paloma :)
Jordan
Hola los amigos,
Que esta la Paloma?
Yo no se que clase esta la Paloma.
It's similar to a margarita, but basically just citrus soda (like Squirt) and tequila. We'd prefer the freshly made margs, but hey.... at least the cans were only 15 pesos each!
Gracias for explaining.
I actually love this challenge. It keeps one in check, especially me, when i go into the mall to get stuffs, after getting all i need, i end up feeling tempted to get something else. Haha. I am raising my water to the victory drink. Glad you guys did it again. I love the challenge within the challenge, hahaha. Maddie won, as you couldn't finish your raspberry. Laska to the rescue, yaaaay!. That is one massive dinner. I think it's not entirely too costly yo live there, because i could actually feed on all these a day and i would be fine too.
Roaches running marathon on the streets. I think Maddie and i have that in common again, hahaha, hating roaches, though i don't run from them, but i hate seeing them around me. Makes my skin crawl haha. Well done guys. Another one, done and dusted.
Amen to that! It's so easy to spend more money than anticipated. Here in Mexico, I think sometimes we get into this mentality of "but it's SO cheap," even though we're still on a tight budget. Here in Guadalajara, it would be possible to get by on $5 a day, assuming you're sticking to the vendors and markets.
Thanks for watching @olawalium!
Yes, definitely. Sticking to the vendors would be a lot cheaper. Going to an eatery here, you could pratically exhaust that $10 in two meals, that is #3,600 in our local currency. A plate of maybe fried rice with chicken and drink, should cost you half that price, depending on the eatery. I look forward to the next post, as always. Well done guys. Hello to Laska for me.
Interesting! We'd be so lost if we were trying to do the challenge in a completely different currency. It's taken a while to get used to converting things and what certain items should cost in pesos.
Laska says hello back, "roh! roh! roh!" ;)
Hahahahahahahahaha. You definitely know how to crack me up.
You are right, it could be a bit confusing converting. When you were doing those challenge videos, i was doing the calculations in $ and not in Pesos. Could be confusing sometimes hahaha.
Always tip what you can!
What mic do you use because you both sound REALLY clear.
Beautiful Dog Laska!
@sharingeverybite should of got the Tequila Shot instead of the Cerveza walking back when the sun goes down.
CUCARACHAS
:)
You both did it $10 a day eating out in Guadalajara.
Keep STEEM N ON,
Frank
Hey Frank!
We're using the mic that's built into our Sony action cam. It's great most of the time, but if it's windy, it will pick up a lot of the wind sound. In that case, you're probably going to want an external mic for this camera (which we haven't purchased yet).
Hahaha! Unfortunately, the grocery store frowns upon opening their tequila bottles and pouring shots. They want you to buy the whole bottle for some reason ;)
Thanks for watching and commenting!

I've enjoyed this post and also following you...
Nice post
Glad to hear you liked it, thanks for following!
good !!
Really enjoyed this video, thanks for sharing! I Love Mexico, I was just there recently and had some delicious coconuts ❤
So your coconuts had a lot of flavor? We’ve only had raw coconut once during our travels here and it had zero flavor. It was like eating a carrot but without any taste.
Hahahahha wow.... That expensive???? This is sure the life Diamonds live, not just for commoners. Lol... You're a priceless Diamond @tangerinetravels So live the life of your dreams. Yes, you can.
It’s interesting how one’s experiences can change perspectives. This seems pretty affordable to us after living in the US (Phoenix, Arizona) where the average meal at a lower-mid end restaurant was $10-16 plus 30% more after tax and tip, not including drinks.
Oh you see.... Thanks awesome. Enjoy yourself sugar plum

10$ a day is quite interesting.
In Mexico it's very difficult for me to manage all that in only 10$. Good job.

I want your precious comments on this. You are expert in explaining your experience but i am not that much. So need your guidance.
Thanks @tangerinetravels
Where are you located in Mexico? We haven't been to many places where it would be too hard to stick to $10 USD, assuming we don't eat out at the fancier restaurants.
That's an incredibly detailed post on Bali! The food looked so colorful and delicious. Definitely a place we'd love to visit someday.
