It can not be more basic than this. Ham, bread and cheese, maybe some mayonnaise or mustard a staple in school lunch the ham and cheese sandwich was once the only food available in baseball games in the New York area. Probably invented by an Irishman in 1700 there are not many restrictions in this classic that you can use any cheese or bread, I also believe that the French have even adapted it to produce the ham Monsieur which is a sandwich of ham and cheese usually grilled and covered with béchamel sauce.</center
