Daily Dinner #1 | Sausage and Peppers
Hello, my fellow Steemians! It's been about 3 weeks since I've posted, as I have mentioned I have a really bad back and I had a flare-up. I have not been able to move for a couple weeks but I've returned. This is a pretty straightforward recipe, very easy to put together. I made a very large batch this time around. I didn't give specific amounts for the ingredients because it's really personal preference, that being said if you use a pound of each of the main ingredients it will serve a family of four with no problem.
Ingredients:
Hot Italian Sausage ( I used turkey)
Red Bell Peppers
Red Onions
Mushrooms
Garlic, Salt, and Pepper to taste
Your Favorite Jarred Sauce
Pour one jar of sauce into the pot to cover the bottom. Slice onions and add to sauce. Do the same with peppers and mushrooms. For the peppers, I like to cut each one into 6 pieces so you have nice big chunks of peppers in the end product. Pour a couple more jars of sauce over top and season with garlic, salt, and pepper. Start cooking on medium-high heat while stirring frequently. When it starts simmering reduce heat to low and cover. Cook for 3 hours on low. Stir about once a half hour.
I got some nice rolls from the bakery to make subs. I recommend baking your roll in the oven for 5 minutes at 400 degrees so your sub does not get soggy. Grate some parmesan onto the sub. Alright, that's all I've got this time around. Let me know how you like the meal, Bon Appetit!
