Lessons From Vegan Fasting Cleanse @senseicat

I started a cleansing fast recently and I am restricting the time that I eat into an 8 hour duration and fasting 16 hours. The first day, I thought this is a piece of cake because I starting eating at 11 a.m. and could eat until 7 p.m. The following day, I did not get hungry until 10 a.m. and was very pleased that I could eat til 6 p.m.

This morning was entirely another story! I woke up absolutely STARVED at 5 a.m. and wondered how could I stop eating for the remainder of the day by 2 p.m. So, I held off until 8:30 a.m. and literally had to stop by 4:30 this afternoon.

I realized that if you allow your body 16 hours of fasting, your stomach actually shrinks in size. The meals that you consume are smaller. As you can see, I eat a large portion of veggies for at least one meal. This morning, I started with home made organic oatmeal with cinnamon and banana. As a snack, I treated myself to one celery stick with a TBSP. of peanut butter. I ordered a small side salad in the early afternoon when our family ate out.

Eating vegetables is great for health, because vegetables have calories and high nutrients and can help you lose weight.

I find what you are doing admirable! I've done Vegan before, but eventually went back to eating meat. It isn't an easy thing to do or maintain . More power to you, Sensicat! Keep us posted on how this goes. Maybe it will change others who see. :)
