Fermenting Nasturtiums!

in #food7 years ago

Yesterday I was picking nasturtium flowers and leaves to dehydrate for using in tinctures, my mixed greens blend, soaps, shampoos and maybe a new vinegar down the road.

Then I had a wild hair and thought "Why not ferment these instead?" So I got them started up using my own blackberry fermentation starter.

I will be putting up a new post tomorrow about how to make your own fermentation starter from whatever fruit you have on hand. I need to let the new ones I recently started finish up first so I can show how they look when ready. This post will be a step by step blog rather than a long winded video like in my first post.

Checked the ferment today and this is how it currently looks:

It has already started to bubble and I could not help myself, I took a taste. So far it is fabulous!

I will be doing an update post on this when it is complete, including a how-to and what spices I added, so be watching for that if you are interested!

Thank you for stopping by I and hope you are having a beautiful day! ~Heidi
