Typical lunch from Ferrara, Italy.

LUNCH FERRARESE.

Here I am talking about the great Ferrara lunch, I already knew that this city is renowned for good food and so I decided to try some local dishes.
I went to a restaurant in the center of the city, right next to the municipal square, where sitting outside enjoyed a beautiful view of the grand staircase.
I took a non-alcoholic aperitif (Yes I know it's a shame that combination) but I wanted to keep light for the next lunch.
As a first course I decided to order the typical Pasticcio Ferrarese!

As you can see it's a nice Pasticcio , with portions in Ferrara do not joke!
The Pasticcio really contains everything inside, outside it is made with an almost sweet shortcrust pastry, it looks like a sandwich and inside is made of béchamel in large quantities, macaroni and pieces of cooked ham and bacon. Certainly not a diet dish but a real good one , also on top there is also a pinch of meat sauce, not to miss anything tasty!

This dish is one of the oldest in Ferrara and is a true hymn to the reuse of leftovers, do not throw away anything, let's make a Pasticcio!
After eating it with taste, savoring this mix of sweet and savory I decide to take for a second of boiled vegetables.
The Pasticcio for me is almost a complete meal, I'm not a fanatic of the body line but not even a big eater, but there is one thing for which I'm crazy!
The sweets, the desserts, chocolate!
So after the vegetables to rinse my mouth order a nice trio of desserts, accompanied by a red merlot and a chardonnay of some local factory. 

In the trio of desserts, we have the pan pepato, a typical sweet from Ferrara, usually made for Christmas, covered in chocolate and it is said to be the favorite dessert of the Este family.
Pan peppered because it has this sweet and spicy taste.

The gingerbread or pan pepato is accompanied by a sweet called torta tenerina, I assure you delicious and really tender as the name suggests! Tenerina means tender, torta means pie.
Chocolate, butter, sugar, eggs and little flour, not a dessert for those on a diet!
But in short here there is little for those on a diet!
It has the hardest crust and the inside instead is a very sweet heart of chocolate.

Finally there is a taste of another delicious cake, the ferrarese tortiglione!
The tortiglione is actually also common here in Pistoia but with other names, a very sweet and delicate liqueur cake.
I noticed that they abound with Alchermens and it does not mind.
So here's my little report of a Ferrara culinary tour that left me satisfied and a few pounds more.
