Jollof rice: The dish every west african country claim is theirs
according to wikipedia, jollof rice originally originated from senegal where it was called "wollof rice" .
but this delicacy has spread all over west Africa,with countries mainly Nigeria and Ghana although not doubting its origin claims they prepare the best version of the dish.
the jollof rice itself is mainly just rice cooked with tomato sauce and various spices and vegetables. jollof rice is mostly eaten during celebrations or parties.
cnn once made a documentary on jollof rice trying to to determine which country prepares it best, one thing they could all agree on was that it was between Nigeria and Ghana .

In Singapore, we have similar dishes too. We call them 'Nasi Bryani', 'Nasi Bukhari' and 'Nasi Minyak'. These are normally served during weddings.
