Preparing Clams - Delicious Dinner!
Hi everyone today i was welcomed on steemit by all of you, im so thankful for the lovely messages and wishes :)
This night i made clams and i thought it would be nice to show you how to make them ready so without further ado. Here we go!
First you wanna prepare all needed ingredients right now i used a bag of prepared vegetables because i did not really had the time to cut some up myself, but if you do wanna cut some up yourself you can use: Leek - Celery - Onion cut them nicely not to small so that the taste gets into the clams when we start cooking.
Next unpack the clams and poor them in a bowl or in the sink somewhere you can clean them in. My personal taste is the sink it makes it easier for me to move my hands in.
Make sure you fill the bowl or sink with cold water, when you pour the clams in.
Add about a half glass of milk into the water with the clams in it.
Give it a good stir with a spoon. You will begin to see bubbles coming to the surface this is the dirt within the clams that is being drawn out so let it sit for about 3 minutes. After 3 minutes move your hands through the clams in the sink to make sure all the dirt from within the clams has risen to the surface of the water.
Next take a big cooking pot and now we are gonna add our freshly cut vegetables in it or prepacked depending on your choice.
Like this! Add about 1/4 of the total amount of vegetables into the pot.
After about 3 minutes empty the water & milk out of the sink.
Grab a handfull of the clams after all the water and milk is gone, and hold the clams under cold water in a up downward movement.
Place all of the clams on top of the vegetables in the cooking pot.
Add the remaining 3/4 vegetables on top of the clams in the cooking pot.
Add 1 Glass of water in a circular motion in the cooking pot.
Place the cooking pot on the hob and let it cook at the highest temperature for me this is about 9.
Place a lid on the the cooking pot and cook the clams and vegetables for about 5 Minutes.
You will notice that they are cooked well enough if you notice the clams opening up.
Stir the cooked clams give it a quick stir, and lift up the cooking pot by holding the left and right handles, and shake the pot gently in a upward, downward movement, to move the clams at the bottom, and to see that all the clams are opened. After all of that your clams are ready to be served and eaten!
Bon appetit!
One quick thing, there is always a possibility that you may eat a clam that is not fresh, and if you do not drink milk afterwards you could become really sick from it, so i advice that once you are done eating the clams to drink half a glass of milk, this is just like removing the dirt from the clams, but in this way the clam that is not fresh gets removed from your body very fast. Although in all the years that i have eaten them i have never experienced it, so the chances are slim.
Great post, thank you @missvixen. I would like to try preparing clams now!
Thank you thats rly kind of you :) ! Yes you should, they are so good! :D
