Today's healthy Indian breakfast:
Idli:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Urad Dal
- 2 cups Idli rice
- 5 cups water
- 1 tea spoon salt
Procedure:
- Soak urad dal in water for 2 hours
- Soak rice in another bowl with water for 1 hour
- Grind Urad dal in grinder
- Add rice to Urad Dal in grinder (dont let the mixture become a paste)
- Keep the mixture for fermentation for 8 hours.
- Boil the mixture in idli vessel
Sambhar:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Dal
- Medium size Palak 5-6 leaves
- 1 Tomato
- 5 grams Tamarind
- 5 grams Jaggery
- Salt for taste
- 1 pinch Turmeric
- 1 pinch Asafoetida
- 2 Green Chillies
- 2 spoon Sambhar Powder
Procedure:
- Boil the dal in cooker until 6 whistles
- After boiling add tamarind pulp, turmeric powder and jaggery.
- Add finely chopped Palak and tomato
- Add salt
- Boil it for 10 minutes.
- Add asafoetida and sambhar powder.
- Boil for 2 minutes and Sambhar is ready.
