What’s your signature dish? Mine is.... Meatballs with beer (Westmalle)
Hi Steemians friends and food lovers,
Meatballs? Yes meatballs. Well not just any meatballs but meatballs in beer gravy. My mother taught me how to make them. From now on forget about your “boring” traditional meatballs. Oh by the way I ask my mom if I can give her recipe away
Thank god, she’s totally fine with it. I guarantee you this. Once you’ve taste them it’s hard to go back haha. To say something is a “signature” dish is to take a risk. But It’s a risk I am willing to take. It’s so super easy to make and not to mention the beer gravy. Love it.
Next to my signature dish I would like to know your favorite dish to make. Perhaps you make the most delicious lasagna or tell me what kind of meat I should buy for a barbeque party to impress my friends.
Ok here I go. It’s a dish for 4 persons.
Ingredients.
- 500 g of mincemeat (beef)
- 60 g butter
- 1 bag of breadcrumbs or crackers (spice or herbs mix)
- 1 egg
- 1 onion
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 bottle of Trappist beer (Westmalle triple)
- 2 spoons of soy sauce (ketjap)
- 1 spoon mustard
- 1 tea spoon sambal.
How it’s done.
Put the mincemeat in a bowl together with the herbs breadcrumbs, the finely chopped onion, and the 2 cloves of garlic. Next to that add the 2 spoons of soy sauce, the spoon of mustard and the tea spoon with sambal. Flavor this with some salt and pepper. With clean hands, scrunch and mix everything up. Divide into 4 large balls, then with wet hands make them beautifully round, strong and smooth. In the meantime, heat the 60g of butter in a large frying pan. Add the meatballs and cook them for 3-4 minutes turning them regularly. Once cooked add the Westmalle beer. Sorry but while I am writing this I am thinking about making them again today
Lower down the heat, let’s say medium or low. Close the frying pan with a lit or cover and slow cook them for about 30 minutes. Don’t forget to check them on a regularly basis and turn them around once, carefully though.
After 30 minutes, you are done! Come on it’s time to taste them. Serve them with some vegetables and potatoes.
Tip: if you are not in the mood, just put them on 2 slices of white bread and then put the beer gravy on top. Mjammie.
I am dying to hear your thoughs. Did it work out? Did you love them just as I do
If you have any questions about how to make them. Something not clear let me know. Happy to answer all your questions.
Don’t forget to leave a comment or a vote if you liked my posted.
For now, happy Sunday, relax and don’t let your Sunday ruin your Monday. Or is it the other way around lol…
Cheers,
Michiel
