SUMAN MORON (TWISTED STICKY RICE CAKE)

Suman Moron or Twisted Chocolate-Milk Sticky Rice Cake is a native dessert in the Island of Visayas, Philippines more particularly in Tacloban the capital city of Leyte. Leyte is a home for beautiful people with unfaltering smiles and unique cookery. This smooth rice cake is made up of the different types of rice cooked in coconut milk, cow’s milk, and cocoa powder. It is a popular Filipino dessert served during fiestas and other special occasions. Luckily, I don’t have to wait for any special celebrations to taste this delicacy because these are commonly sold outside the church during Sundays.

Both layers are twisted together then wrapped in banana leaves and steamed for flavor infusion. The result is a heavenly combination of sweet flavor and chewy texture. Muron ( moo-ron) is a Filipino dessert almost similar to that of Suman. It wrapped with banana leaves, it is pre cooked and steamed for the the mixture to stick together and for the banana leaf’s aroma to stick to the dough. As a Filipino I really Proud of My Filipino Delicacy and Cuisine. Every Food that I post is one of our Traditional food.
