KAMOTENG KAHOY OR BALINGHOY (CASSAVA ROOT)
Snack time.!! My Sister crave Kamoteng Kahoy or Balinghoy (Cassava Root) Cassava is a long tuberous starchy root about two inches around and eight inches long. Balinghoy is the native Tagalog word for cassava, which now is more commonly known as kamoteng kahoy (“tree kamote”). A starch made by leaching and drying the root of the cassava plant; the source of tapioca; a staple food in the tropics.
~ tapioca granular preparation of cassava starch used to thicken especially puddings.
Cassava comes loaded with carbohydrates, including the especially beneficial carbohydrate dietary fiber. Consuming fiber is linked to a number of health benefits, including lower blood pressure, reduced cholesterol levels, better control over your blood sugar levels and a lower risk of obesity.
