German Spätzle recipe
I know everyone is just waiting for someone to finally explain how to make the famous German Spätzle.
Spätzle are a very popular dish in southern Germany agreed on to be the tastiest food by the ICOSL ( international council of spätzle lovers)
Well, the waiting has paid off and here is a steemit guide to make Spätzle for your next dinner party.
First, you need some Bavarian music, of course, don't underestimate this step if you want to make the perfect Spätzle.
Next thing you need a "Spätzle maker" like this one from Amazon
You can also make them without a Spätzle maker, but It's a lot more work.
I will get back to that later again, until the end it both ways are the same.
The nice thing about Spätzle is you don't need a lot of ingredients to make them, all you need for 4 people is:
100 ml warm water ( Sparkling water works the best but tap water is fine too )
400 g flour
4 Eggs
Salt and pepper
and some butter
So how are we doing this?
Just put the flour, the eggs, the water and some salt and pepper in a bowl and mix it around until the dough makes bubbles.
After that, you just let the dough rest for about 10 minutes, makes sure it can listen to enough music during that process.
Meanwhile, you can get a pot of salt-water on the stove, the water needs to be boiling.
Once the dough has rested 10 minutes just push it through the Spätzlemaker into the boiling water.
The spätzle only need about 2 minutes and you can get them out of the water with a skimmer.
If you don't have a Spätzlemaker put the dough on a board and portion it carefully while throwing the Spätzle into the water.
After you got them out of the pot you now have two options.
You can upgrade them to Käsespätzle, by putting them into a baking dish, putting a lot of cheese on them.
Or just pan-fry them
